Laura Speers

Kindergarten Teacher
Called January 2019

Laura began her seventh year of teaching at St. Paul this September. The first three years she taught preschool, and then graduated to Kindergarten where she has been ever since.
She received a BS in Early Childhood Education, 2006, and a Master’s in Literacy 2008. Both degrees are from SUNY, Fredonia.
Her experience prior to St. Paul includes fifteen years in UPK and the Headstart program in Binghamton, NY. In addition, she has been the Camp Director at the Rotary Sunshine Camp in Rush for twenty years. The Camp is for children and adults with special needs. How wonderful! God surely blesses us as he sends these talented people to our midst. Last year through Concordia Seminary, Laura completed her Colloquy studies and is now a “Called Lutheran Educator.”
Laura has been married for ten years and has a son William who attends St. Paul. Whenever possible, the family likes to go camping. Also, Laura collects all things Elephant.
When asked if anything special drew her to St. Paul, she replied, “I grew up at St. Paul and wanted to come back to the area when Andrew and I started our family.” We, at St. Paul, are very glad that you made that decision.
In her teaching, it is Laura’s goal to provide a Christ centered space for children to feel safe and loved. In her curriculum, she strives for the same ideal, a Christ centered curriculum to help them grow in all areas of development.
How blessed we are to have people such as Laura at our school.
